Universal’s upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic has cast SwayvoTwain as the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.
SwayvoTwain is the son of late soul star Angie Stone and R&B legend D’Angelo. He will portray Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie, in the upcoming film.
SwayvoTwain to Play Biggie
SwayvoTwain, whose real name is Michael D’Angelo Archer II, is a singer, songwriter and performer.
He has released songs such as “DoveSoar” and “Ms Angie’s Son.” His music draws from Southern soul, hip-hop and R&B.
“Snoop” will mark his first major movie role.
The film is described as the “definitive biopic of the entertainment mogul and icon,” Snoop Dogg.
Biggie’s Connection to Snoop Dogg
Biggie was one of the biggest hip-hop stars of the 1990s. He became a major figure in East Coast rap before he died in 1997.
Despite their different West Coast and East Coast ties, Biggie and Snoop Dogg shared mutual respect.
Biggie was signed to Bad Boy Records, while Snoop was closely linked to Death Row Records. Their relationship adds an important part to Snoop’s story.
The biopic will also feature RBX, played by Bentley Green. RBX, whose real name is Eric Dwayne Collins, signed with Death Row in the 1990s alongside his cousin Snoop Dogg.
G Perico will portray Big Reecie Cup, another important figure from Snoop’s Long Beach roots.
Star-Studded Cast
Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop Dogg in the film.
The cast also includes Myles Bullock as Dr Dre and Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur.
Algee Smith will portray Warren G, while Tre Hale will play Suge Knight.
Laya DeLeon Hayes will portray Snoop’s wife, Shante Broadus. Olly Sholotan will play Kurupt, while Corey Champagne will portray Nate Dogg.
Jonica Booth will play The Lady of Rage. Lauren London will portray Snoop’s late mother, Beverly Tate.
Release Date
Craig Brewer is directing “Snoop.” He is known for films including “Hustle and Flow” and “Song Sung Blue.”
The screenplay is based on Brewer’s rewrite of Joe Robert Cole’s original script.
Snoop Dogg is producing the film with Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum. Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker is also producing.
