Eucharia Anunobi, a seasoned Nollywood actress and evangelist, is utilising her platform to discuss DM etiquette.
She rose to fame in the early 1990s when she played the part of Anita in the movie Glamour Girls, which helped the movie succeed and displayed her acting abilities.
Anunobi has starred in over 90 films over the course of her three-decade career, including well-known productions like Foreigner’s God, Letters to a Stranger, and Abuja Connection.

However, Anunobi strongly addressed what she sees as an annoying and widespread trend of Nigerians starting conversations in direct messages, particularly on social media, in an Instagram video.
“I don’t get it. I really don’t get it. Why would you come to someone’s DM and write hi? Hello, Beauty. For crying out loud, you think we all have time to waste?”
Eucharia Anunobi voiced her annoyance at those who send her direct messages with imprecise greetings and no clear instructions in her characteristic calm and authoritative tone.
She believes that in a world that is moving so quickly, there is no time for idle discussion.
“Oh, so we should start chit-chatting. Hey, then I write hello, then you say ‘How are you?’ That’s fine. Come on, now. Man, shoot your shot, write your intentions, write where you’re going to, where you’re coming from, come on.”
For the actor, being straightforward, purposeful, and considerate of others’ time is more important than simply being courteous.
Vague direct message openers are just not effective in this day and age, when everyone is preoccupied with achieving objectives and juggling a lot of obligations.

What did she advise? When contacting someone, particularly a well-known individual, communicate with clarity and assurance.
Clarity is essential for each kind of communication, including business proposals, compliments, networking requests, and even love approaches.
“Don’t you know what’s called grabbing your opportunity? Obviously, common sense is not common.”
