The Nigerian Senate has been sued by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is arguing that her six-month suspension was politically motivated and violated her constitutional rights.
Allegations that she disrupted Senate sessions by speaking without recognition, disregarding seating procedures, and making remarks that Senate leaders found “abusive” led to her suspension in March 2025.
Kogi Central representative Akpoti-Uduaghan, however, maintains that the disciplinary measure is retaliation for her claims of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Due to her six-month suspension, which she claims was politically motivated and violated her constitutional rights, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has filed a lawsuit against the Nigerian Senate.
The ban was put in place in March 2025 in response to claims that she had interfered with Senate business by speaking without authorisation, disregarding seating arrangements, and making remarks that Senate leaders considered “abusive.”
The disciplinary punishment, according to Kogi Central representative Akpoti-Uduaghan, is retaliation for her claims of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
