The competition heated up at the New Media Conference School Debate 2025, held at Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja, as the semi-finalists took the stage for the next round of intellectual exchange. After hours of engaging arguments in the preliminary rounds, four schools advanced to the semi-finals: Command Day Secondary School (CDSS), Saint Graags School, CMS Grammar School, and International School of Lagos State (ISL).

The semi-final topic, โ€œThe Role of AI in Shaping Future Careers: Opportunities or Threats,โ€ challenged students to think critically about how artificial intelligence is transforming global industries. Each school presented strong perspectives, connecting technology, education, and employment with real-world examples.

Command Day Secondary School focused on how AI creates new career paths and promotes innovation, while ISL countered with concerns about automation and job displacement. CMS Grammar School highlighted AIโ€™s potential to redefine education and improve productivity, and Saint Graags School impressed the judges with their balanced approach, emphasizing both the promise and responsibility that come with technological progress.

Final Showdown and Victory for Saint Graags School

After careful deliberation, the judges announced the finalists: Command Day Secondary School (CDSS), CMS Grammar School, and Saint Graags School. Excitement filled the hall as the scores were revealed โ€” CDSS secured 60 points, CMS followed closely with 62 points, but it was Saint Graags School that clinched the lead with a commanding 83 points, earning them the title of champions of the New Media Conference School Debate 2025.

The audience erupted in applause as the winners were announced. Teachers, parents, and guests celebrated the studentsโ€™ eloquence, teamwork, and research skills. The judges, Joseph Onalapo (Jay On Air) and Dr. Chike Mgbeadichie, commended all participants for their composure, analytical depth, and understanding of contemporary issues.

The event once again highlighted the importance of youth engagement in conversations about technology, innovation, and the digital future proving that the next generation of thinkers is ready to take on the challenges ahead.
