Rick Ross says he is innocent after walking out of jail following domestic violence charges, including felony battery by strangulation. The rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, surrendered to Miami Beach police Thursday, then appeared in court.
Authorities charged Ross with felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery, with both charges connected to domestic violence allegations there. Ross posted bond and walked free from a Miami-Dade County jail, where reporters gathered outside following his court appearance Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Ross described the allegations as fabricated and firmly maintained that he did nothing wrong in the incident. He said, “I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” while addressing the media after securing his release.
Ross also outlined an unusual weekend itinerary, saying he would travel to Dubai Friday before heading to Paris Saturday afterward. Despite the serious allegations, the rapper shifted attention toward his plans for Sunday, promising himself rigatoni with heavy marinara sauce.
Ross repeated the phrase “heavy marinara” several times, drawing attention online as footage of his comments circulated across social media. The case reportedly stems from an August 28 incident at Ross’s Star Island residence involving a woman who reported allegations.
Police records indicate the woman reported the alleged incident on September 29, weeks after it reportedly occurred at the residence. Ross’s attorney has denied the allegations, while the rapper has pleaded not guilty as the legal proceedings continue in Miami.
