Nigerian actor and producer Ramsey Nouah has revealed that his mother is from Ondo while his father is Lebanese.
The 55-year-old film star disclosed this during an interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he spoke about his background and explained why he speaks Yoruba fluently despite his mixed heritage.
“I speak Yoruba so well because I’m a Yoruba boy. I was born and bred in Lagos. My mum is from Ondo, but I’m mixed-race because my father is Lebanese,” he said.
Nouah began his acting career in the early 1990s and has since established himself as one of Nollywood’s household names.
He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010 for his performance in The Figurine.
The actor later expanded his career into filmmaking, making his directorial debut with Living in Bondage: Breaking Free in 2019. He has since directed other Nollywood productions.
Nouah has also spoken about the financial challenges facing filmmakers in Nigeria.
Recently, he said that taking films to cinemas is not always a wise financial decision because producers may struggle to recoup their investment despite spending heavily on promotion.
