Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo says she now considers her daughter Priscilla’s in-laws before speaking out on public issues.
Ojo said Priscilla’s marriage has made her more careful about her activism and public confrontations.
The actress spoke about her journey as a single mother and her approach to public advocacy in an interview.
Ojo has often spoken out on social and national issues. She has also received praise for defending Nigerians during periods of social tension.
However, she said her daughter’s marriage has changed the way she handles public matters.
“Priscilla is married now, and I don’t want her in-laws having a certain perception about me,” she added.
Ojo said she does not want her public actions to affect Priscilla’s relationship with her husband’s family.
The actress is a mother of two and recently became a grandmother. She also reflected on raising her children as a single mother.
Asked how she felt about raising two children successfully and becoming a grandmother, Ojo said the experience has brought her joy.
“It makes me feel very great, happy and fulfilled,” she said.
Ojo also acknowledged the challenges that come with public advocacy. According to her, speaking out can attract criticism and personal attacks.
“When you want to fight, it comes with a lot, and when you are fighting, the opposition will always come up with different false allegations, and it is always a divided audience,” she said.
The actress has faced criticism in the past because of her outspoken nature. She now appears more cautious about the issues she chooses to address publicly.
