Prince has died aged 57 at his estate in Minnesota. 

The singer recently cancelled tour dates due to his illness. Prince Rogers Nelson had a medical emergency on April 15 that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois, US.

Police were called to his Paisley Park mansion around 9:45 a.m. local time for a medical emergency at the on-site recording studio, but deputies discovered the fatality upon arrival. The Carver County Sheriff’s Department initially did not publicly identify the singer as the victim as they waited to notify his next of kin, but Prince’s publicist sadly confirmed his death.

Prince’s passing comes less than a week after he was briefly hospitalized.

His death now is sure to send shockwaves throughout the music industry, as Prince will go down as one of the greatest musicians and performers of all time.
