Africa’s longest serving leader, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is seeking a fresh seven year term in Equatorial Guinea. 73 year President Teodoro Obiang old has ruled Equatorial Guinea for 37 years and is once again expected to win a reelection as citizens go to the polls on Sunday.

There are six other candidates running for elections but they are mostly unpopular and obscure and some other political parties have decided to boycott the election.

There are concerns about the credibility of the elections as well as voter turn out in a country where there is a large divide between the rich and the poor.

Although Equatorial Guinea is an oil exporter, many say that the bulk of the country’s wealth goes into a few pockets.
