Nigerian actress Nkechi Blessing and BBNaija winner Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, are set to take their feud into the boxing ring as they clash at Chaos in the Ring on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The four-round female celebrity bout, which has a rematch clause, will take place at The Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
The fight has drawn attention because of the rivalry between the two entertainers, which began after Blessing challenged Phyna on Instagram over a movie role and their later online clashes.
Phyna, Nkechi exchange threats
At Tuesday’s face-off ahead of the fight, Blessing and Phyna engaged in a heated war of words, with both promising to beat the other.
Blessing accused Phyna of disrespecting someone close to her and said she was ready to punish her for being rude.
“I am 100 per cent prepared for the fight. I will beat her with my first blow, and she won’t stand a chance after that,” Blessing said.
Phyna responded by mocking Blessing’s age and predicted that she would finish the actress in the second round.
“She is an old woman, and I will continue to disgrace her. I will beat her in round 2,” Phyna responded.
Phyna also said she wants to pursue a boxing career after the fight.
The event will also feature a bout between content creator Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, known as Carter Efe, and rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington.
Chaos in the Ring founder and Balmoral Group Promotions, Dr Ezekiel Adamu, said the event is the promotion’s fifth show in a year.
“This is our 5th event in the past year, themed the Independence Edition. It’s a real boxing match; expect a war in the ring.”
Appah, Freezy Macbones clash
Meanwhile, Warri-born boxer Godday Appah will defend his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship against Ghanaian fighter Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
At Tuesday’s face-off, Freezy declared his confidence ahead of the bout.
“It’s going to be ‘Freezy Time’ on the night. I will beat him (Appah) and punch him hard in the face. I am the face of African Boxing, and Appah must respect that.”
Appah said he was focused on representing Nigeria.
“I’m not chasing clout; I’m fighting for our country. Freezy is my friend, but I will beat him and make Nigeria proud. The pressure isn’t on me; it’s on him.”
