The Lagos state government demolished the Owonifari market in Oshodi yesterday.
Citing security challenges as the main reason for the demolition of the market, Governor Akinwumi Ambode kicked off the demolition exercise.
The Owonifari market has been in operation for 40 years and the short notice given to the traders before demolition will definitely be a cause of concern.
However, the commissioner for Environment, Babatunde Adejare claimed that the traders had been relocated to newly built stalls along Bolade, Oshodi.
The Lagos state government has said it plans to transform Oshodi into an ultramodern bus stop.
