Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has publicly criticized movie producers who place undue pressure on actors to generate one million views on YouTube within a day of a movie’s release.
Dubbed the “Queen of YouTube Nollywood,” Kadiri advised her fellow actors not to succumb to such demands, stressing that achieving high viewership numbers on YouTube is not the sole measure of a movie’s success.
Taking to her Instagram, Kadiri wrote, “Dear Nollywood actors, take the pressure off your shoulders! Any producer who requires one million views from you in one day has failed.

Her statement highlights the growing debate about the role of digital metrics in evaluating creative success in Nollywood.
