Renowned Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo recently opened up about how he met his wife, Busola Dakolo, and the challenges he faced winning her love.

In a conversation with Pulse, the ‘Iyawo Mi’ singer revealed that their love story began in church.

Despite his initial interest, Busola wasn’t eager to pursue a romantic relationship, but Timi’s persistence eventually paid off.

Sharing details, he recounted, “I met my wife in church and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number, but when I called, she wasn’t answering. I kept going to her area, hoping to run into her. Eventually, I did, and when I asked why she wasn’t picking up, she told me her phone had been stolen.”

Their friendship grew from there, though it wasn’t without its hurdles. Timi admitted he had to work hard to win Busola’s heart, especially when she tried to keep him in the friend zone.

“I suffered to win her love,” he said. “I would drive her to and from work. Back then, she used to be embarrassed when I showed up in the branded Picanto I won from Idols West Africa in 2007.”

Determined to prove himself, he assured her things would change. “I told her, ‘Don’t look down on me. I will shock you.’ And I did,” he added.

Timi and Busola tied the knot in 2012 and now share a happy home with their three children.
