NCAA Denies Allegations of Aircraft Smuggling to Iran, Investigates Claims

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has denied allegations of selling Nigerian-registered aircraft to Iran and announced an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, dismissed the claims as baseless, stating no Nigerian aircraft had been deregistered or sold.

He emphasized the importance of a thorough probe and noted the lack of evidence or specifics in the reports.

The allegations involve two Nigerian-registered aircraft allegedly smuggled to Iranโ€™s Mahan Air in violation of international sanctions.

Achimugu clarified that the NCAA had not been involved in any such transactions and is seeking clarification from Iranian authorities about claims of transponder deactivation.

The NCAA assured the public that the investigationโ€™s findings would be made public.
