New Zealand Marks 100 Days Without Community Spread of Coronavirus

New Zealand becomes the first country to make a great milestone in dealing with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic having marked 100 days today, 9th August, 2020 without recording a domestic case of Coronavirus.

New Zealand has obviously fared better than other countries as it has only recorded 1,219 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus with 22 deaths since the outbreak of the virus in late February, 2020. According to BBC, New Zealand presently has a total number of 23 active Coronavirus cases all in managed isolation.

Most interestingly, New Zealand has a female Prime Minister, Jacinda Arden who imposed an early lockdown, tough border restrictions, effective health messaging and an aggressive test-and-trace programme to fight the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
