The National Examinations Council (NECO) has granted accreditation to additional foreign schools, enabling them to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
This development was announced by NECOโs Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, in a statement.
The newly accredited schools are located in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea.
According to the statement, NECOโs Accreditation Team assessed the schoolsโ readiness by inspecting their facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities.
โAfter a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status,โ the statement read.NECO emphasized that accrediting additional foreign schools underscores its commitment to delivering quality education and assessment services beyond Nigeriaโs borders.
โWith its growing international footprint, NECO aims to become a leading examination body in Africa, offering students worldwide access to its expertise and contributing to the advancement of education across the continent and beyond,โ the statement added.
In a related development, NECO disclosed that candidates are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External examinations at the UNHCR School in Diffa, Niger Republic, marking it as the first NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.
NECOโs international presence now spans several countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, Cรดte dโIvoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Saudi Arabia.
