Nigerian content creator and musician Nasboi has shared an emotional account of his early struggles, opening up about a period when his music career nearly came to a halt.
During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the entertainer revealed that his journey took a difficult turn after his longtime producer and close friend, who worked with him from 2009 to 2018, decided to step away due to a lack of financial returns. The decision left him without a creative partner and, more importantly, without the only support system he had for making music.
Nasboi explained that their relationship was built on passion rather than profit. They spent years creating music freely, often jumping into the studio without expectations. However, when the reality of no income set in, his producer chose to move on, leaving him feeling broken and uncertain about what to do next.
With Lagos becoming overwhelming for him at the time, Nasboi relocated to Uyo in search of a fresh start. Instead, he was met with one of the toughest phases of his life. He admitted that survival became his only focus, as dreams of wealth and success gave way to the simple need to eat.
He recalled moments when finding as little as ₦50 on the ground felt like a major win, highlighting just how difficult things had become. According to him, garri and groundnuts were often his only meals, underscoring the level of hardship he endured during that period.
