Nollywood actress and media personality Nancy Isime has shared powerful lessons on success, faith, and self-confidence.
Speaking during an appearance on Jay On Air Live, the actress encouraged people to embrace what makes them different. She said individuality remains one of the biggest strengths anyone can have.
No One Can Be You
Nancy explained that there are billions of people in the world. Yet every person has something unique to offer.
“There’s always somebody that can do what you’re doing, but there’s nobody that can do it the way you do it,” she said.
She noted that many people work in the same industry and pursue similar goals. However, no one can fully copy another person’s journey, personality, or style. According to her, embracing those differences can help people stand out.
Success Goes Beyond Talent
The actress also spoke about what it takes to build a successful career.
“Having a trajectory in your career is not just about being good at it. It doesn’t stop there. It goes beyond the talents. It goes beyond the hard work. Who are you?” she asked.
Nancy said talent can open doors, but success requires much more. She stressed the importance of discipline, consistency, character, and purpose. In her view, these qualities help people grow and remain relevant over time.
Handling Criticism
As a public figure, Nancy understands that criticism comes with success.
“You cannot be successful, especially in the field that I’m in, and expect people to just turn a blind eye. It’s not possible,” she said.
She added that anyone who chooses to shine will attract attention. Some people will celebrate your achievements, while others may question them.
Using a biblical example, Nancy pointed out that even Jesus Christ faced criticism while carrying out His purpose.
“People didn’t even have any reason to disturb Jesus, but they did. He was just going about His life and doing His purpose,” she said.
Rather than focusing on negative comments, Nancy chooses to value feedback from people she respects.
“For me, the people who matter and whose opinions carry weight have never spoken poorly about me. That’s why I’ve had the kind of career I’ve had,” she stated.
Speaking About Her Faith
The actress also addressed questions about her faith.
“I know the relationship I have with Him. It’s evident in my life that I know God,” she said.
She explained that her connection with God is personal. Nancy believes her actions and lifestyle reflect her faith more than words ever could.
Why Lagos Is Still Her Favourite City
Although she has travelled to many countries, Nancy said Lagos remains her favourite place in the world.
“So my favourite place on earth is Lagos, Nigeria,” she revealed.
The actress described Lagos as a city full of energy and opportunities. She believes it is a great place for young people who want to build their careers.
Many people complain about traffic and the fast pace of life. Nancy, however, sees those challenges as part of what makes the city special. She believes Lagos pushes people to work harder and dream bigger.
Finding Hope After Loss
Nancy also reflected on the loss of a respected colleague in Nollywood. The discussion led to a conversation about grief and hope.
“Everybody around Jesus was focused on His death. They would have missed the miracle of His resurrection,” she said.
Her message encouraged people to look beyond difficult moments. She believes hope remains important, even during painful seasons.
Staying True to Yourself
Throughout the interview, Nancy encouraged people to focus on their purpose instead of comparing themselves with others.
She advised young people to trust their abilities and stay consistent. According to her, success comes from knowing who you are and refusing to let outside opinions define your worth.
