Naira Marley, a Nigerian musician and the founder of Marlian Records, Afeez Fashola, has joined the rising social media chorus demanding the release of well-known online critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly arrested VeryDarkMan on Friday, May 2.

Following the news’s release, a lot of Nigerians have voiced their concerns and called for his release.

The EFCC had not made public the cause behind Otse’s arrest at the time of this publication.

Before being arrested, VeryDarkMan had shared a video of himself visiting an Abuja GTBank branch to dispute what he claimed was an illegal withdrawal from his mother’s pay account for a loan she allegedly did not take out.

Online, there has been a tremendous outcry in support of him from supporters, activists, and public figures following his detention.

Joining the protest, Naira Marley took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his frustration, posting a message accompanied by angry emojis, urging for the release of the outspoken critic.
