Nigerian singer Oluwatosin ‘Mr Eazi’ Ajibade has revealed why his late mother, Ifeoma, never saw him perform on stage before her death in March 2025.
Speaking during an interview on the Brut Podcast, Mr Eazi said his mother supported his music career but never attended any of his performances because she was conservative and disliked travelling.
“She was very conservative in her life in general. Even to travel, she didn’t like to travel,” he said.
The singer explained that his growing international career made it difficult for his mother to attend his shows as he travelled to different countries for performances.
“Like, even to just go from Lagos to Accra, and the more my career went further, the more I was travelling across the world to do shows.
Mr Eazi also disclosed that his father did not frequently watch him perform despite being supportive of his career.
“My dad first saw me perform in 2017/2018, and that was even a while after. I think my dad might have only seen me perform once.
“The support from them has always been in terms of prayers, calling in.”
Mr Eazi is a co-founder of pawaPay, a fintech startup operating in Africa. He also runs emPawa Africa, a record label, and launched Choplife, a betting company, in 2024.
