Mr Macaroni Says Governor Sanwo Olu Is Not Doing Anyone A Favour By Addressing Hardships

Actor and well-known Nigerian campaigner Mr Macaroni has opposed Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his handling of the current suffering endured by Lagos residents as a result of the Independence Bridge’s shutdown.

The comedian and activist made the case on X that addressing citizens’ struggles is an obligation that comes with the job, not a favour.

“The Governor is not doing anyone a favour by addressing the hardship Lagosians are facing. It is his responsibility!!! Most people have been conditioned to accept the barest minimum from politicians, and that is why there is zero accountability to the people.”

Mr Macaroni further emphasised that public servants should be totally dedicated to serving the people, pointing out the benefits they receive at the expense of taxpayers.

People pay for your fine convoy, your security, your lodging, and all the other luxuries your office provides, Sir @jidesanwoolu.

You never have to deal with the suffering and adversity that other people endure because of all of these and many more things that make life very simple and pleasurable for you.

Serving them with the utmost respect and dedication is the least you can do! They are deserving of nothing less!

However, On April 2, 2025, the Independence Bridge was closed, causing severe traffic jams throughout the state that left many commuters stuck for hours.

Governor Sanwo-Olu later spoke to the public amid a flurry of complaints, sparking additional conversations about how the government is managing public services and infrastructure.

The following day, Senator David Umahi, the Works Minister, officially opened the bridge.
