Former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah will join Turkish club Trabzonspor on a two-year deal worth at least 34 million euros.
The 34-year-old Egyptian star arrived in Trabzon on Wednesday night. Thousands of excited fans welcomed him as he prepared to complete the move.
Salah joined the club on a free transfer. He attracted interest from Besiktas and clubs in Saudi Arabia and Spain before choosing Trabzonspor.
Turkish media reports say Salah could earn a base salary of about 17 million euros per season. The club has not officially confirmed the figure.
Impressive Record
Salah leaves Liverpool after another outstanding campaign. He finished the 2024-2025 Premier League season as the top scorer and leading assist provider. His performances helped Liverpool win the league title.
The Egyptian captain also played a key role at the FIFA World Cup this summer. He helped Egypt reach the Round of 16 for the first time in the country’s history.
Trabzonspor Eyes More Success
Trabzonspor finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season. The result earned the club a place in the UEFA Europa League playoffs.
The club has also strengthened its finances. It reported revenue of 2.3 billion Turkish liras (about $57.4 million) in the nine months to March. Trabzonspor also expects to receive at least 26 million euros from the sale of midfielder Christ Ravynel Inao Oulai to Italian club Fiorentina.
Salah’s arrival shows Trabzonspor’s ambition. The club hopes his experience and goals will help it compete for trophies in Turkey and make a strong impact in Europe.
