Missy Eliot, one of rap’s all time great and a pioneer in the genre has become the first female rapper nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame after nominations for the 2019 class was announced.

She becomes the first female rapper to be nominated for the honor, and If elected, will be just the third rapper inducted, after JAY-Z and Jermaine Dupri.
