MFM choir wins gold at the World Choir Games, giving Nigeria a major international triumph in Helsingborg, Sweden this week. The Mountain Top Chorale scored 87.38 points in the Spiritual category, securing gold and the Champions Competition title for Nigeria.
Conducted by Oluwasegun Okedunmola, the ensemble delivered a performance that impressed judges during the prestigious international choral competition in Sweden. The 14th World Choir Games runs from August 6 through August 16, bringing choirs together across Helsingborg for music, friendship.
Organised by the Interkultur Foundation, the festival promotes peaceful competition, cultural exchange, workshops, concerts, and strong international friendship through singing. Mountain Top Chorale represents Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, while its achievement adds a remarkable chapter to Nigeria’s musical history.
Dr. Daniel Olukoya, MFM’s General Overseer, celebrated the result and praised the choir’s discipline, teamwork, excellence, and dedication to God. He described the international victory as a source of pride for Nigeria, MFM, and everyone who supported the chorale’s journey.
Within the Spiritual category, ensembles perform a cappella spirituals rooted in African-American traditions, including religious songs, slave songs, and hymns. The competition features both Open and Champions sections, allowing experienced ensembles to compete at the highest level against global counterparts. More than 160 choirs and 8,500 singers from over 40 countries are participating throughout the 2026 World Choir Games.
Helsingborg hosts performances across arenas, concert halls, churches, and outdoor venues, creating a vibrant atmosphere for international musical collaboration together. Notably, Mountain Top Chorale previously earned gold at the 2024 World Choir Games, showing sustained excellence on the global stage.
MFM choir wins gold again internationally, strengthening Nigeria’s reputation while demonstrating how disciplined teamwork can produce outstanding artistic achievements worldwide.
