Manchester United held top of the table Leicester City to a 1-1 draw in today’s Barclays Premier league encounter. League leaders Leicester came into the encounter with the knowledge that a win at Old Trafford would all but secure the title.
Second placed Tottenham face Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Monday evening and if they do not secure a win, Leicester will be named champions. To put the task ahead of Tottenham in perspective, they have never won a match at the Stamford bridge.
Manchester United started brightly hogging all of the possession and shipping in an early goal courtesy of Anthony Martial after his shot squeezed past Schmeichel. United continued to press but failed to capitalise on their dominance to double their lead.
Nine minutes after United’s goal, Wes Morgan rose to meet a beautiful free kick to draw Leicester level at 1-1. Chances were at a premium in a game in which Leicester were content without the ball and United seemed unable to fashion out clear cut chances in the final third.
