The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reopen factories sealed by the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) over disputed water abstraction fees.
In a statement, MAN described the closures as โill-timedโ and harmful to the manufacturing sector, noting they occurred despite ongoing negotiations.
The association revealed that talks with LASWARCO had progressed towards an agreement, with a Memorandum of Understanding expected in January 2025.
MANโs Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, criticized the excessive fees and regulatory burdens faced by manufacturers, warning of potential job losses and negative signals to investors.
He called on the governor to intervene, reopen the factories, and foster a more business-friendly environment.
