Lionel Messi Confirmed as New Owner of CD Eldense in Spain

Lionel Messi has been confirmed as the new owner of CD Eldense, expanding his football investments into Spain’s second division. The club announced Messi’s acquisition on October 1, confirming the Argentine superstar’s arrival and beginning a new chapter for Eldense.

Messi becomes majority owner after acquiring shares previously held by investment group TH Soluciones, according to reports and club officials. Eldense competes in LaLiga Hypermotion, Spain’s second tier, and Messi now adds the professional club to his growing ownership portfolio.

The Argentine previously acquired UE Cornellà in April, giving him ownership interests in two Spanish clubs during the 2026 season. Founded in 1921, Eldense described Messi’s arrival as the beginning of a project focused on sporting, institutional, and social development.

Club officials said the new ownership aims to consolidate Eldense while preserving its history, identity, and deep connection with supporters. Messi’s acquisition comes as Eldense battles difficult results, with the club currently positioned near the bottom of the second division.

The ownership change could bring increased international attention as Messi balances his playing career with growing football business responsibilities globally. However, the transaction still requires authorization from Spain’s Higher Sports Council under the country’s sports law before completion becomes effective.

Messi’s move marks another step into football ownership, following a playing career that established him among the game’s greatest figures. With Messi leading the project, CD Eldense enters a new era while seeking stability and growth within Spanish professional football.

Lionel Messi’s ownership of CD Eldense adds another Spanish chapter to his expanding football legacy beyond the pitch and trophies.
