LE Guen’s Eagles job rejection: NFF shop for alternative

In the face of the crisis that visited the football communityย after the rejection of an offer for the Super Eagles technical adviser job by Frenchman Paul Le Guen, the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation yesterday gave the technical and Development Committee a 7-day ultimatum to recommend a new name for the vacant position of a technical adviser for the senior national team.

communique signed by Chairman, Communique Drafting Committee, Hon Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, the Executive Committee instructed the Technical and Development Sub โ€“Committee to, โ€œwithin the next seven (7) days, recommend a candidate for the post of Technical Adviser of the Super Eaglesโ€. It noted that the refusal of Mr. Paul Le Guen, earlier recommended by the Sub โ€“Committee, to accept to be given targets as well as his unwillingness to live in Nigeria, made his candidature unacceptable to the Board. The board also noted that Le Guenโ€™s insistence on bring two assistants from Europe would have made the Nigerian assistants redundant. The Committee further resolved that any candidate that would be so recommended by the Technical and Development Sub โ€“Committee must have accepted to be handed targets and must also be willing to live in Nigeria. In addition, such a candidate must agree to undergo other internal evaluation. The board approved the appointment of Salisu Yusuf as Chief Coach of the Super Eagles and Head of the CHAN team. Also approved were the appointments of Imama Amakapabo as assistant coach andย  Alloy Aguย  who will serve as goalkeepersโ€™ trainer. The appointment of Bitrus Bewarangย  asย  the new Technical Director was also approved. He replaces the late Coach Shaibu Amodu. Nduka Ugbade also returned to the U17 national team as assistant coach.
