Lagos to host 2026 CAF Awards after Nigeria secured the rights to stage African football’s biggest individual awards ceremony next year. The announcement marks the competition’s return to Nigeria following several years hosted by Morocco.
Nigeria previously hosted the prestigious CAF Awards in Lagos during 2015 before Abuja welcomed the ceremony again in 2017. The 2026 edition will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
President Bola Tinubu reportedly approved Nigeria’s hosting rights after productive discussions with CAF President Patrice Motsepe regarding African football development initiatives. The successful negotiations further strengthened Nigeria’s growing relationship with the Confederation of African Football ahead of major continental events.
Lagos to host 2026 CAF Awards while Nigeria also prepares to welcome delegates for the 48th CAF General Assembly later this year. Reports indicate the General Assembly will likely take place in Abuja during October 2026, bringing football administrators from across Africa together.
