The Koko master has released a new video which surprisingly is a gospel song! The koko master and self acclaimed ‘African Mamba‘ has been through a lot lately and it is definitely a good idea to thank God at this point in his life.
You will recall that a few years ago, D’banj left this country and his record Label Mo’Hits which he co-owned with Don Jazzy to pursue his dreams of BIGGER things with a deal he signed with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music in the United States of America.
He left behind all he has built from ground up and like his then partner told him, ‘he was leaving certainty for uncertainly’ and that happened to be the case because when D’banj returned back to the Nigerian industry a year ago because things did not work out as he planned, things were not the same again.
His former partner had gone on to build another record label and was now a Don in the Industry, new comers had stepped up their game and the space he seemed to occupy on the charts was no longer his. He ventured into Business and tried making song after song but none ever reached the peak he was known for.
Late last year, there were even reports of the Entertainer being broke and involved in a debt scandal. All of this seemed to fade away when he was honored with a legendary award recently, something he proudly said was a proof of his hard work.
On the occasion of his 35th birthday, Nigerian afropop pioneer and longtime swag leader D’banj has dropped an appropriately joyful new single. The track, called “If No Be For God (Superstar),” sees D’banj enthusiastically praising God, “the greatest superstar,” for all of his blessings โ everything he knows, everything he owns.
“As I turn a year older I want to thank the lord for my wonderful journey, life and story and for making my dream of Being a Vessel of Visible HOPE to my generation come to life,” he wrote on Instagram.
