In case you have zero memory of the roaring ’90s when Kris Jenner, was good friends with O.J. Simpson—who was arrested for the murder of his late wife, Nicole Brown Simpson then this is for you, as the sensational American Crime Story of the decade: The People v. O.J. Simpson is about to be premiere on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

Kris (who was also close friends with Nicole) says the television event will “introduce a new generation to this thing that took place that was so horrific.”

“I went to bed one night and I woke up the next morning and my entire universe had changed,” she says of finding out about her friend’s murder. “They were two of the best friends I ever had in my entire life. They were my family. O.J. was like my big brother. So I not only mourned the loss of Nicole, but I mourned the loss of O.J. and that relationship.” 

Despite Kris’ husband, Robert Kardashian, representing O.J. Simpson during his murder trial, she’s taking a firm stance against him. “I saw all the pictures and the police reports and I heard tapes of Nicole calling 911,” she says. “I beat myself up because I felt like I wasn’t paying attention. Like, how did I miss this? But that’s typical in an abusive relationship–that the woman doesn’t speak out about how she’s being treated.” 

Kris admits that Nicole’s death “could have been prevented,” and that she wants her daughters’ generation to learn from her story. “If Nicole’s legacy can be protecting other women, then that would be a really positive thing,” she says.
