Kanye West Releases His First-Ever Song With Kendrick Lamar | Listen here

Since his 2012 major label debut, Kendrick Lamar has been the most respected rapper in hip-hop by both fans and critics, and earned 11 Grammy nominations for his sophomore album To Pimp a Butterfly. Yet somehow, these two titansย have never appeared together on a song until now.

Kanyeย West has shared the song and atย six minutes long, it’s a lyrical marathon. The Madlib-produced track has some uncharacteristically great lines from West:

ย “All my niggas with babies by bitches / That use their kids as meal tickets / Not knowing the disconnect from the father / The next generation will be the real victims.”

Lamar, meanwhile, rips up the first half of the song with vivid imagery and an elastic flow:

“Now it’s Denny’s, 4 in the morning, spoil your appetite / Liquor pouring and niggas swarming your section with erection / Smoke in every direction, middle finger pedestrians / R&B singers and lesbians, rappers and managers / Music and iPhone cameras / This shit unanimous for you, it’s damaging for you.”

On January 8, West released the excellent bedroom ballad “Real Friends,” with a tease of “No More Parties in LA.” While the release that day was a total mess, a tweet from Kim Kardashianย hinted that West would be releasing new music every Friday leading up to his new album SWISHย on February 11 (and it’s still not clear if any of these new songs will appear on that album).

Lastย Fridayย came and wentย withย no new music. Kardashian took to Twitter to explain the delay:
