This year, Kendrick Lamar’s fans can rest easy and can be assured that K.dot is likely going to walk off with the number of Grammy awards he deserves.
Kendrick’s second studio album, “Good Kid Maad City”, was a critically acclaimed piece of art and is largely regarded as one of the best albums of the last ten years. However, the Grammy awards did not deem it worthy of a Grammy award (although GKMC earned four nominations). Although Kendrick’s talent has never been in doubt, he followed up GKMC with an even more critically acclaimed album.
Kendrick’s third studio album, “To Pimp A Butterfly” is not your regular body of rap, but it cements Kendrick’s ability, brilliance and versatility. TPAB received a Metacritic score of 95 and was dubbed the best album of the last decade.
The nominations for the 58th Grammy awards are here and Kendrick is leading the pack with 11 nominations in nine categories. Some of the categories include, Album of the year, Song of the year, Best Rap album among others.
Taylor Swift and The Weeknd come a close second with seven nominations each and Taylor Swift is also in the running for album of the year for her album “1989”. The competition goes further, with Taylor Swift in the song of the year category for her song “Blank space” while Kendrick is nominated for “Alright”.
So, get your predictions in? How many Grammy Awards is Kendrick going to win this year?
