Jenna Ortega has revealed that, as a child actor, she sometimes avoided food and water to avoid inconveniencing others filming. Reflecting on those years, Jenna Ortega recalled feeling grateful and determined to perform perfectly, believing staying unobtrusive would help professionally.
During those early years, she said, “I wasn’t asking for a sip of water,” while describing her intense work ethic. She explained she could go all day without eating or drinking because she hoped to avoid getting in anyone’s way.
Looking back, Ortega now recognizes that her determination also came with a cost that deeply affected her own personal wellbeing. “Maybe that was my mistake, was not actually looking after myself,” the actress admitted while reflecting on those demanding experiences.
Despite those challenges, Ortega believes she rarely made mistakes as a child because gratitude and excitement kept her focused professionally. “I really had it going for me as a child ’cause I can’t think of one mistake I made,” explained. That mindset eventually shaped Ortega’s professional discipline, although she now acknowledges that adulthood has brought more frequent mistakes overall today.
Before becoming Wednesday Addams, Ortega built her career through several early television appearances that introduced audiences to her growing talent. Her breakthrough arrived with Disney Channel’s Stuck in the Middle, where she headlined the family comedy at only thirteen years.
The series debuted in 2016 and helped establish Ortega as a promising young performer within the competitive entertainment industry today. Early credits included Richie Rich, Jane the Virgin, You, and Elena of Avalor before her international breakthrough eventually arrived.
Years later, Wednesday transformed Ortega into a global star, while her earlier experiences continued influencing her approach to demanding roles.
