Darlington Okoye, better known by his stage name Speed Darlington or Akpi, has finally responded to the criticism that followed his startling declaration in a video that went viral.
When the musician and rapper claimed to have had sex with a 15-year-old girl, it immediately prompted criticism and calls for his arrest, sparking significant indignation on social media.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) declared they were looking into the issue after seeing the viral video, according to OSG reports.
The DSVA attested that it had forwarded the matter to NAPTIP for additional handling.

Speed Darlington clarified in a recent video that his contentious admission was a purposeful strategy to garner attention.
He stated, “I am an artist. In this industry, controversy sells. If you’re not trending, you don’t get booked. You have to be controversial. That was the strategy behind the video — I was marketing myself.”
Despite his explanation, Speed Darlington apologized to his fans for the distress caused by his comments.
