American streaming star IShowSpeed has gone viral after jokingly asking Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to help him get a Nigerian passport during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The encounter happened on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win their second World Cup title. Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the 106th minute.
Viral Moment at the Stadium
A video from IShowSpeed’s livestream captured the meeting in the stands. A man approached the content creator and introduced him to Seyi Tinubu.
After greeting the group, Speed made a request that quickly caught attention online.
“Ay man, tell your dad to get me a Nigerian passport,” he said.
Moments later, Speed repeated the request directly to Seyi Tinubu when they met face to face.
Seyi Tinubu attended the final wearing a Spain jersey. He watched the match from the VIP section alongside his children and other family members.
Why the Comment Resonated
Many Nigerians reacted positively to the exchange. The moment reminded fans of IShowSpeed’s visit to Nigeria earlier this year.
In January 2026, the YouTuber travelled to Lagos as part of his 28-day Speed Does Africa tour. He livestreamed his experiences across the city and interacted with fans throughout the visit.
The content creator also toured the Nike Art Gallery, met Nigerian celebrities and celebrated his birthday in the country.
A Strong Connection With Nigeria
Nigeria played a key role in one of Speed’s biggest career achievements. During his Lagos visit, he became the first Black content creator to surpass 50 million YouTube subscribers.
His Africa tour also included stops in Angola, Ghana and South Africa. However, Nigeria stood out as one of the most memorable destinations on the trip.
Many fans believe his passport joke reflects the strong connection he built with the country during that visit.
