Media personality IK Osakioduwa has finally spoken about his absence from the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The broadcaster hosted the awards show from 2013 to 2025. His absence this year sparked questions among fans and industry observers. Many wondered if he had fallen out with the organisers.

However, IK says there was no conflict between him and Africa Magic.

No Problem With Africa Magic

During a recent interview, IK explained that his decision had nothing to do with any disagreement.

“This year, I wasn’t destined to host. I strongly believe in being where God has sent you to be and at the time He wants you there,” he said.

He also described Africa Magic as his “first love” and stressed that he still has great respect for the brand.

“There was no problem there. I know a lot of people were speculating about what happened. There wasn’t any of that,” he added.

Why He Stepped Away

IK revealed that his personal values influenced his decision.

According to him, he does not endorse alcohol or tobacco brands. He felt he could not properly represent the event because of the sponsors involved in that edition.

“I don’t endorse alcoholic brands or tobacco brands, so I wouldn’t have been able to serve properly because of the sponsors,” he said.

His comments quickly drew reactions online. Many fans praised him for standing by his principles.

Not The First Time

The veteran host also disclosed that he has turned down other opportunities in the past.

When asked if he had rejected jobs because of his beliefs, IK said similar situations had happened several times during his career.

“There have been several scenarios where things like what happened at the AMVCA happened. ” The first big job that would have paid me millions of naira was…” he said.

Although he did not reveal the full details, his statement showed that he has often placed his values above financial rewards.
