Self-care does not always have to be expensive; here is how to practice self-care without spending a dime:
-
Drink more water and don’t skip breakfast. Consistently drinking water throughout the day, and making sure not to skip your meals (especially breakfast), will show your body how much you truly love and care for it.
-
Take a social media break: Have a stipulated time where you take a break from your phone. This will help you have a clearer mind which can further help to reduce stress and anxiety.
-
Do not hold grudges. Holding grudges against your friend or spouse is not great for your mental health. This is why forgiveness is therapeutic and first for your benefit.
-
Journalling; The art of journalling can help you gain insight into the feelings, thoughts, and emotions you are experiencing. This practice will support you in making more better choices and decisions in your everyday life.
-
Spend time alone. In our overly connected world, it’s easy to feel we have to do all the things to stay relevant. This mindset can lead to burnout, exhaustion, and you feeling not-so-great about yourself. Take some time to reconnect with your priorities in the various segments of your life, including work, finances, family, friends, personal goals, and romantic relationships.
-
Read a book. Reading can be relaxing. Read any book that captivates you and learn so much more
-
Create positive mantras like “I am worthy, I am enough, I am deserving, I am amazing and I am loved” and repeat them to yourself
-
Set healthy boundaries. Never be afraid to say no to something that doesn’t serve you. Setting boundaries is critical for self-care as it’ll help to keep what’s most important to you close to heart. When we don’t set boundaries, our schedules become unmanageable and we deplete ourselves.
