A personal prayer once drawn from firm preferences has become an unexpected full-circle moment in the love story of Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Banky W.

Speaking in an interview with Teju Babyface, Adesua revealed that before meeting her husband, she had clearly told God she did not want to marry a musician, a politician, or a pastor. Years later, she finds herself married to a man who has, at different stages of his life, embodied all three roles, something she now describes as God giving her exactly who she needed.

The actress also shared intimate details about their relationship, offering a glimpse into the habits that have kept their bond strong. From unconsciously sleeping with their feet touching to consistently holding hands, she described a connection built on simple, intentional acts of love. Reflecting on their journey, she noted that they will mark 10 years together on October 1, with their 10th wedding anniversary coming up next year.

On his part, Banky W added humour and depth, joking that perhaps his past experiences with heartbreak led to God sending Adesua into his life as both a blessing and a lesson. He recalled a pivotal moment early in their relationship when he chose to step back and pray, asking God to speak directly to her if they were truly meant to be together.

Their conversation also touched on expectations in marriage. Addressing common stereotypes, Banky W explained that while some men insist on traditional roles like cooking, their home operates differently. Although Adesua can cook well, it isn’t something she does often, and he’s perfectly fine with that, noting that he genuinely enjoys cooking himself.

Both also reflected on how their paths crossed several times before they eventually became a couple.
