Here are the things to expect:
Wednesday, 7th May – Icons Night (7 PM WAT)
The AMVCA begins with a tribute to the past. The main goal of Icons Night is to celebrate veterans, those whose creations, performances, and tales influenced the development of contemporary African cinema and television.
As we acknowledge the shoulders that the next generation now stands upon, it’s an evening for introspection, celebration, and thankfulness.
Thursday, 8th May – Young Filmmakers’ Day (10 AM WAT)
The future becomes the main focus. Young Filmmakers’ Day honours those who are just starting as dreamers and doers.
With showcases, mentorship sessions, and panels, the day is jam-packed with chances to network, learn, and perhaps even launch your next big idea.
Friday, 9th May – Cultural Day (5 PM WAT)
Now is the moment to wear your best traditional attire. Cultural Day is a vibrant celebration of African heritage that includes storytelling, food, music, and dress.
It’s a stunning reminder of the many civilisations that continue to stimulate creativity throughout the continent and a visual feast. This year, the ceremony will be hosted by Stan Nze of Nollywood.
Saturday, 10th May – Awards Day
The great finale. The red carpet glitz, where nominees, celebrities, and guests arrive in their finest attire, kicks off Awards Day at 4 PM WAT.
The Main Awards Ceremony, which honours some of the best achievements in African film and television over the past year, starts at 7 PM WAT. All of Africa Magic’s channels will broadcast the program live.
Following the presentation of the last prize, there is an after-party at midnight where everyone can have a good time and raise a glass to yet another thrilling year of African storytelling.
