The much-anticipated Spelling Bee in Nigeria (SpIN) National Finals is set to take place on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the U.S. Consul General’s Residence in Lagos.

Originally scheduled for February, the event was postponed due to a conflicting Lagos State event but is now primed to deliver an unforgettable experience for Nigeria’s brightest young spellers.

In a thrilling development, Harini Logan, Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion, will make her first-ever visit to Nigeria to serve as Guest Pronouncer at the SpIN National Finals.

Harini, renowned for her historic spell-off victory, is not just a decorated champion but also an advocate for education, mentorship, and the global spelling bee community.

Reflecting on her upcoming visit, Harini Logan shared her excitement:

“I am honoured to be part of this incredible milestone for Nigeria’s spelling bee journey.

“Spelling bees have shaped my life in so many ways, and I’m thrilled to witness firsthand the passion and dedication of Nigeria’s young spellers.

“I can’t wait to experience the culture, meet the talented contestants, and play a role in this historic event.“

However, the SpIN National Finals will feature 64 students from across Nigeria, who have competed through rigorous semifinal qualifiers for the chance to become the country’s inaugural champion.

The winner will represent Nigeria at the 100th edition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States, a momentous achievement for the nation’s literacy and academic excellence landscape.

Beyond the competition, SpIN remains committed to fostering academic excellence, linguistic mastery, and leadership skills.

Also, in line with this mission, three additional outstanding students will join the national champion to witness the Scripps National Spelling Bee live, providing them with invaluable exposure and inspiration.
