Ghanaian Government To Import Covid-19 Vaccines

President Nana Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo has said the government has opened formal discussions with drug manufacturers towards importing a vaccine for the Covid-19 pandemic.

He noted that the discussions come after the committee formed to recommend the appropriate decision on Covid-19 vaccine completed its work and submitted its findings to the government.

The President said further details will be provided subsequently.

โ€œThrough the advances of science, we now have vaccines which have already been administered in some countries that could help control and eventually end the pandemic.

โ€œThe committee formed by government to recommend the appropriate decision on Covid-19 vaccine has completed its work, enabling government to begin discussions with vaccine manufacturing companies with the goal of ordering the suitable doses of the vaccine for use in Ghana,โ€ he said.

President Akufo-Addo disclosed this on Tuesday while delivering a keynote address at the 72nd annual New Year School at the University of Ghana, Legon.
