Bob Hearts Abishola actress Folake Olowofoyeku has received chieftaincy titles in her hometown of Imo, Ilesa, Osun State.

The actress shared videos of the ceremony on her social media pages. However, she did not reveal the exact date of the coronation.

Olowofoyeku said she received the titles Yeye Oba and Yeye Atayese. The titles mean “King’s Female Chief” and “Peacemaker”.

The videos showed the actress dressed in white traditional attire with orange regalia. She took part in several rites during the ceremony.

One ritual involved placing chieftaincy leaves into her crown. The act marked her installation into the traditional institution.

She also performed the gun-shooting ritual. The custom formally announces a person’s new status as a chief.

Olowofoyeku was born in Nigeria to politician Babatunji Olowofoyeku. She is the youngest of his children.

She attended Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City before moving to Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Ikeja, Lagos. She later studied at Oxbridge Tutorial College.

The actress earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre from the City College of New York in the United States. She is known for her roles in Death Race 2050 and the television series Bob Hearts Abishola.

In January, Olowofoyeku spoke about the colourism and ridicule she faced while growing up in Nigeria. She said people often mocked her facial features and lips.
