World football governing body, FIFA, has confirmed the sack of its General Secretary, Jeeome Valcke.
Valcke had earlier been suspended for 90 days for his involvement in a World cup ticket scam where tickets were sold above their face value.
He has now been sacked with immediate effect and is facing a possible nine year ban from all football related activities.
“The FIFA Emergency Committee decided, on 9 January 2016, to dismiss Jerome Valcke from the position of FIFA Secretary General with immediate effect,” Zurich-based FIFA said in a statement.
“The duties of the Secretary General will continue to be assumed by the Acting Secretary General, Dr Markus Kattner.”
