After the suspension of NPFL matches in March due to the spread of Coronavirus, the Federal Government has approved the restart of league matches during the Presidential Task Force briefing on Covid-19.
However, the Federal Government has restricted spectators from coming into the stadiums in order to curb the spread of the virus. “Restriction is removed on outdoor communal (non-contact)sports and use of recreational parks for supervised physical exercise and sporting leagues to resume with no fans in stadiums,โ Sani Aliyu, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 said.
Accepting the directive of the Presidential Task Force, the FA Chairman, Adam Mouktar Mohammed said, “We now have good examples around the world of how to play the game post-COVID and so the lifting of the ban on sporting activities is timely and most welcome. We believe we can still play safe while also saving the livelihoods of those who depend on football in the country.โ
