An explosion at a fireworks factory in China has left three people dead and one person injured.

Authorities confirmed the explosion the Hongsheng fireworks factory in Shangrao, in the Jiangxi province, suffered a massive explosion at about 12:30 a.m.

Over 1,000 people were evacuated from the factory as rescue efforts continue to try to locate survivors.

The explosion comes just five days after a similar explosion at a fireworks factory in the Chinese province of Henan killed 10 people.
