A 13 year old lion named Mohawk has been shot and killed in Nairobi after it escaped from the Nairobi National park on Wednesday.

It is the second incident of lions escaping from the National Park in just over a month after a pride of lions escaped from the park at night in February.

Mohawk was shot and killed after it attacked a man who was among a crowd of people shortly after escaping from the park. Authorities have been criticized for shooting the animal instead of tranquilizing it as it is the only escaped lion that has been killed.
