Counsel for the #EndSARS protesters in Lagos, Adesina Ogunlana, demand that the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has to appear before the state’s judicial panel of inquiry.
The lawyer says Sanwo-Olu has to appear before the panel to answer questions on the alleged killings of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers.
Recall that on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, soldiers deployed to Lekki tollgate to enforce a curfew earlier imposed by Governor Sanwo-Olu shot at peaceful protesters to disperse them killing at least one and injuring many.
Ogunlana said Sanwo-Olu has to appear before the panel since the military had earlier disclosed that the operation was at the governor’s invitation.
He said, “That person (Sanwo-Olu) will have to come; he’s a factor and he will come. He says he believes in the rule of law, his Attorney General, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), has come to appear before that panel to just make a short speech and to affirm that the Lagos State Government is indeed committed to unraveling the truth about what happened at Lekki on that day; and the military has mentioned him, so, he is a factor.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian army claims it did not kill any protesters at Lekki tollgate but Ogunlana said, “people died on my side.”
