Following new development, the emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II has ordered the state Sharia Commission to liaise with office of the Assistance Inspector General of police, zone 1 to repatriate and reconcile the 14-year-old, Ese Oruru with her family immediately.
We earlier reported about the campaign to free the teenager, who was kidnapped by an indigene of Kano from Bayelsa state.
Her abductor, identified as Yinusa claims that Ese left on her own accord with him to Kano state where she converted to Islam and married him.
The incident occurred last year and all efforts by Rose Oruru, the childโs mother to get the child back has been futile as authorities in Kano claim the child has converted to Islam and changed her name to Aisha.
Meanwhile, a former Minister of Education and convener of the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ campaign’, Oby Ezekwesili, contacted the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, over the abduction and forced marriage of the 14 year-old.

The Emir then showed a copy of letter he had penned to theย Assistantย Inspector General of Police on social media, ordering the release of the young girlย to her parents. ย Before then, there had been several reports that Sanusi had refused to order the release of the girl.
