Donald Trump Endorses Benjamin Netanyahu for Re-Election Ahead of Israel’s October 27 Elections

Donald Trump endorses Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 elections, backing the prime minister during a closely contested campaign. Trump announced his endorsement Sunday on Truth Social, describing Netanyahu as a strong leader and partner in confronting Iran militarily.

The endorsement arrives nine days before Israelis vote, making Trump’s intervention a significant development in Netanyahu’s campaign for another term. Trump praised Netanyahu over Iran, calling him a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and “Partner for Peace” in his public endorsement.

Addressing Israeli voters, Trump declared his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of Netanyahu, emphasizing their partnership and shared security priorities. He warned that choosing another leader could leave America confronting Iran without Netanyahu’s cooperation, underscoring the strategic importance of their relationship.

The endorsement follows months of uncertainty, as Trump previously withheld public support amid disagreements over regional strategy and the conflict involving Iran. Netanyahu quickly welcomed Trump’s announcement, thanking his American counterpart for the support and highlighting their continued cooperation on security matters. “Together we will complete the mission!” Netanyahu wrote, presenting the partnership as important to Israel’s future security and political direction.

However, Trump’s endorsement comes as Netanyahu faces a challenging election, with opinion polls suggesting his governing coalition could struggle to retain power. Israeli voters will decide the next parliament, while competing political blocs must secure sufficient support to form a governing coalition after voting.

The October 27 election marks Israel’s first national vote since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack, which triggered a prolonged regional conflict. Netanyahu’s leadership faces scrutiny over security, military decisions, and Israel’s international standing following years of conflict and mounting political pressure.

Although Trump remains popular among many Israelis, analysts say his endorsement may not necessarily change voters’ decisions or determine the election’s outcome.
